Leave bags of non-perishable food by your mailbox this Saturday, May 14th for the USPS Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
Every year, on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America collect non-perishable food items donated by their postal customers in the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Stamp Out Hunger food drive, the largest one-day food drive in the nation.
Nearly 1,500 NALC branches in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands are involved.
Last year’s drive collected approximately 71 million pounds of non-perishable food that was left in bags next to postal customers’ mailboxes.
Why we need Stamp Out Hunger
The United States Postal Service, National Association of Letter Carriers, National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, United Way, and other organizations are supporting this year's Stamp Out Hunger food drive, which has collected and delivered nearly 1.5 billion pounds of food over the past 24 years.
Want to donate? All you have to do is place non-perishable food items next to your mailbox before your letter carrier delivers mail on the second Saturday in May. Your mail carrier will pick up the food items and take them to be sorted and delivered to your local food bank, shelter, or pantry.
Check out the Stamp Out Hunger Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and use the hashtag #StampOutHunger to learn more and share with others.
If you want to stay involved even after Stamp Out Hunger ends, find your local foodbank and learn how you can donate and volunteer.
