Microsoft Office 365 Continues To Dominate

2015 was a very good year for Microsoft Office 365 — as well as for products and applications that leverage Office, such as StratusLIVE! — thanks in large part to the boom in adoption rates for cloud computing among businesses and nonprofits.

In October, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the company had surpassed the 18 million subscription mark among individual consumers of Office 365. But what was even more impressive were the more than 60 million commercial consumers, a 74% increase over 2014!

How Office 365 has grown

Microsoft's recent growth has been fueled mainly by adoption rates among nonprofits and small businesses. According to Nadella, over 50,000 small- to medium-sized business customers were added each month for the past 19 months.

Last month, Microsoft announced the release of its newest enterprise version of Office 365, dubbed E5. According to Microsoft's Office blog, the latest release brings some key benefits, namely:

  • Communication-powered productivity
  • Simplified infrastructure at lower costs
  • A rich partner ecosystem (hello, StratusLIVE!)
  • Deeper value from security and analytics

Priced at only $35 per month, Microsoft's new Office 365 E5 packs a lot of value into a highly dynamic and efficient package. As CEO Nadella put it in his annual report:

At Microsoft, we push the boundaries of what is possible through a broad range of research and development activities that seek to identify and address the changing demands of customers, industry trends, and competitive forces.
